COMMISSIONING DAY HOME
The USS Tamalpais AO-96 was named flagship of the Marin-built tanker feet at launching ceremonies on October 29, 1944 when Vice Admiral David W. Bagley accepted the Marinship flag the name of the U.S. Navy Thousands of Marinship workers and Marin County residents were present at the launching which was designated "Flagship Day".
